Post by andersbusk Thu Oct 25, 2012 4:10 am

We had a little discussion in another thread, about collectibles. And it made me think what you guy saw as the top 10 collectible shirts?

My 10 all time collectors items would probably be... I'll for sure forget some, and i'm leaving out variants...
    1. Holy ship
    2. Jokester
    3. GiD New Era hat
    4. Silver Air Johnny
    5. 1st round boston exclusive New Era (Navy/Red/White)
    6. Peekaboo colab
    7. GiD Day of the Dead-ssert
    8. Primary colors xbones sample shirt
    9. Leg Lamp
    10. Ugly Xmas crewneck

Wow I switched them around alot to make that list :S And as other shirts get mentioned, I'll probably have to mix it up again Smile

If you have any of these in a large, would be happy to take all of these off your hands, so PM me Smile

Surely Goonies should make the list? Popularity and value of shirts goes through stages, but it's probably the most consistant 'wanted list' shirt. Then in no particular order: BTTF (numbered), TMNT, Karate Cakes (numbered), Silver Air Johnny, Newbury Comics, MV Jaws, Jokester, Malfi Club and of course the Staff Shirt.

You guys think the GID day of desserts is that rare? I never thought it was

I would put the a-ok shirt on the list as well. You never see that shirt and I think only 3 ppl have it on complete set.

Mine is what I personally think is the top 10 for me. It isn't the top 10 collectibles for everybody.

Let's try and make a top 10 rarest shirts and a top 10 rarest shirts you could buy.

    1. Any Employee shirt (just put all in the same, otherwise it would take up most of the list)
    2. Malfi club color variant. (one of a kind, owned by Kellen who works for JC)
    2. Color variant of Gold boombox (silver boom box) (1 of a kind I think)
    3. Color variant of Day of dead-sserts (1 of a kind I think)
    4. Sailor crossbones color variant (1 of a kind I think)
    5. Bike shirt with horn and dice set (1 of a kind I think)
    6. Marcher Gold tooth (1 or 2 of a kind I think)
    7. Suitcase tour suitcase Bill Cosby variant (a couple of this exists - Justin Bieber has this one Smile )
    8. Coffin tour headless horseman color variant (I don't know how many where made)
    9. Coffin tour skeleton peace sign color variant (I don't know how many where made)
    10.

Help me out with the rest of the list...

Shirts people could actually buy, would be something like (again I have to limit the list to none vintage shirts)

    1. Primary colors xbones shirt (10 made)
    2. Ugly Xmas sweater Crewneck (12 made)
    3. A-OK (banned) (unknown amount might belong further up on the list)
    4. Indian headdress (banned) (unknown amount might belong further up on the list)
    5. Indian Big Kid (banned) (unknown amount might belong further up on the list)
    6. Underground t-shirt (banned) (unknown amount might belong further up on the list)
    7. Rubicks cube (banned) (unknown amount might belong further up on the list)
    8. Malfi Club (50 made)
    9. Johnny presents exclusive shirts (60 made)
    10.

Which are wrong and which are missing?

I'm not sure if any other shirt is numbered below 100. Maybe the SITCM giveaways I know they are unnumbered but limited to 100. Or maybe an anniversary shirt? I have no idea what could be last.

I have the "A-OK" shirt! The reason it is so rare rare is because it was discontinued due to the design looking similar to a gang symbol, or so I heard. Any discontinued items are going to be pretty rare.

This is true. I think it is because they were sold for a pretty long time before banned. The most recent discontinued item was the "Goin' Bananas" shirt, which presumably was removed from the store at the request of Chiquita.

A-ok is super rare, but goin' bananas isn't (yet) but that is also because more people buy the shirt right away now, and they are printed in larger numbers. A-ok was when JC wasn't as popular as now, so naturally not as many where sild, and even fewer are still around. That probably won't be the case with Goin' bananas. I Think alot of people anticipated that it would get banned, and therefor bought it. So it will probably never be hard to get...

At the risk of telling you something else you already know, its also got a lot to do with those colourways being reasonably average that they rarely go over $40-$50 and I see Indian and Rubicks in mens sizes all the time. Underground not so much but it's easy to get hold of if you know how, and there's still not a huge demand for it.
